Spring 2025 update

Global supply woes.

He who shall not be named has screwed things up again, expect higher costs on new parts as supplies dry up, and less 'better tech' for the next few years to replace it. Further issues with ongoing and future conflicts taking up supplies of tech and resources means a few more years of instability.

AI AI AI (AIIIIIIIIIIIIE!)

It's not helping anyone and being pushed too much, driving up energy costs and swamping research and search engines with slop. While it can help in some areas (improving research, coming up with new chemical compounds), I feel its been pushed into the wrong industries at the moment. When we have new scams within minutes and no cures for major diseases in years, somethings gone wrong.

Developments

I've converted this site from WordPress to 11ty, and pushed lots of my own features in various projects and sites. Still not really happy with it, still got lots to add but no energy, motivation to do so. I have 2 other projects based on the same tech, and one massive project which needs a new framework built from scratch, and struggling with that. Still working on a simple products system to list our spares for sale. I would ask some AI to help with the projects but its bloody useless with my ideas or prompts and not understanding it.

Phones

Since the network operators 'upgraded' the local mast (not allowed to say 'removed the working Huawei equipment because of government orders'), we've been left with an no so impressive (less than!) 1 bar of signal when out and about, 3 bars when far out on road in middle of 2 fields nearer Ely, 0 bars west of Ely. a vast improvement!
